- What are cookies and what are they used for?
A cookie is a small text file saved locally in your browser's memory on your computer, smartphone, tablet, smartwatch, etc. for a variable period of time (from a few hours to a few years) depending on the cookies' purpose.
Session cookies, which are automatically deleted when you close your browser, can also be used, as well as permanent cookies, which are deactivated at the end of a specific period of time.
Cookies allow you to register preference data, such as the preferred language, and technical data for a set period of time. These simplify browsing and make the site easier to use and more efficient.
We identify and define cookies based on their common uses, in the following general categories:
- A) Based on the subject installing them on the user's device:
First-party cookies when they are installed by the site visited by the user.
Third-party cookies when they are installed by a party other than the manager of the site visited by the user. In these cases, the cookies can also be read by subjects other than those managing the sites visited by the user.
- B) Based on the purpose of each cookie:
Technical cookies: These generally allow the site installing them to speed up site browsing and use, since they save the user's browsing preferences. This simplifies online purchase procedures and authentication for access to reserved areas, or the automatic selection of the user's preferred language.
Analytics cookies: These are either first-party or third-party cookies that collect data in aggregate form on the number of visitors and how they visit the site. They are used to compile statistics on the service and its use.
Profile cookies: These allow the site installing them to monitor a user’s browsing on the site and to study movements and web habits (for example, what the user buys, reads, etc.). This activity can be referred to as “online behavioral advertising”. You can read more about Marté’s online behavioral advertising management below.
- When you visit our Site
When you visit our Site, the Site installs technical, analytics and profile cookies on your device. Third-party cookies are also installed, as described in paragraph 7.
For first-party cookies, Marté is responsible for the data collected by the cookies and for obtaining and managing user consent where required.
For third-party cookies installed on our Site, excluding profile cookies that are used for online behavioral advertising, Marté is required only to provide links to the privacy information and consent forms (if available) provided by the third parties. Please keep in mind that Marté does not define the purposes of these third-party cookies, the logic behind their processing or the management of user preferences for cookies. This is done by the third party providing them, because it is the provider and controller of this data. Please refer to paragraph 7 for further clarification.
- Cookies installed by our Site
Browser technical cookies
These are necessary for our Site to function correctly, because they allow for browsing the pages, content sharing, saving of access credentials for faster access to our Site and to maintain preferences and credentials during browsing. Without these cookies, our Site would be unable to provide the services offered on our Site. These cookies also do not collect any user personal information. This is why these cookies do not require user consent.
These cookies are useful to understand a user’s preferences so we can display customized Marté products and services on our Site and other sites. Without these cookies, we would be unable to understand a specific user’s usage of our Site and would be unable to provide this user with customized advertisements and/or offer online services that are based on the user’s own preferences.
- How to manage cookies on our Site
When visiting our Site for the first time, the user may accept cookies, in one of the following ways:
- by clicking on "Close" on the session banner; or
- by clicking on any element in the page (image or link) outside the banner
It is important to remember that the user may always change his/her browser settings to deactivate all cookies installed on his/her device and to not accept any new ones. Every browser version and operating system follows a different procedure. For more information on how to manage cookies in different browsers, please visit http://www.allaboutcookies.org/manage-cookies/ or see the Help section of your browser.
For example, below is a non-exhaustive list of some of the most commonly used browsers:
- Analytics Cookies – Third Party Cookies
These cookies collect data on how visitors use our Site so that the third party can assess and improve its functioning, and create content that best meets the users' needs. For example, they let the third party know which pages are visited most/least often based on the number of visitors, average time spent on our Site and how visitors arrived on our Site. In this way, the party can know whether the pages load quickly and if they are displayed correctly. The data collected by these cookies are anonymous and not linked to the user's personal information. Third-party services are used for these functions. They provide the data in anonymous form so they cannot be linked to any individual (so-called "single-in").
Our Site uses Google Analytics and Adobe Analytics to collect Site usage data.

- Advertising Management
Marté wants users to have interesting and customized online experiences with Marté products and services. To accomplish this, Marté (or a third party service provider) uses the cookies on a user’s computer (that is, “profile cookies”) to trace the user’s online browsing habits and purchasing activities on our Site and other sites the user visits. These cookies collect demographic data and/or data on the pages visited, products viewed and purchases made following advertising campaigns.
Marté and/or its third party service providers will then use the information collected by the cookies to provide a user with suitable and tailored Marté advertisements when the user visits our Site and other sites, such as social media sites, Google and Yahoo. For example, these cookies can be used to display advertisements on our Site and other sites that match users' demographic profiles or that are based on users’ specific interests; to display advertisements on other sites about the products viewed on our Site; or to avoid displaying advertisements that users have already seen. Without these cookies, users would not receive Marté advertisements that are suitable to their needs.
What are your options
When you accessed our Site, we tried to make you aware of our online behavioral advertising practice because we will not collect information about you for this purpose without your permission.
We respect our users and understand that some users may not want this customized advertising. Therefore, we have provided you with the opportunity to opt-out of allowing Marté or its third party service providers to track your online habits for the purpose of displaying personalized Marté advertisements. Please be aware that these cookies and the way they track your online habits are not forms of spyware or malware.
If you opt-out of online behavioral advertising, then at that time, Marté or our third party service provider will not track your browsing habits on our Site or other sites you visit. Unfortunately, this means that you will not receive any customized advertisements from Marté that are tailored to your interests and curiosity. Other companies may collect your information for online behavioral advertising purposes, so we encourage you to examine their policies and practices.
If you do not opt-out of this type of advertising, then you will receive customized Marté advertisements and offers for online services. For example, by tracing your browsing habits, we may learn that you prefer trousers rather than skirts and we will then provide you with advertisements for Marté trousers that may be what you have been looking for.
Persons over the age of 13
We have no intention of tracking the online browsing habits of children for online behavioral advertising purposes. Our Site is only intended for persons over the age of 13, so if you are under the age of 13, please do not use our Site and do not consent to our online behavioral advertising practice.
Our third party service providers
The following table is a list of the third party service providers that we may use to help us with advertising profile cookies. Our providers’ site links are for your reference only.
The data about your browsing habits collected by our Site is subject to users' privacy settings for each individual third party. We have provided a table below with links to the privacy policies of those sites with which we may share your information for purposes of online behavioral advertising. As we have no control over these third party privacy policies, we encourage you to check them periodically for changes.
